MY STORY

Why I think fitness is not just hours on a treadmill or lifting weights.  Or even in a gym!

Hi!  I'm Lauren, the founder of Bat FITness Crazy, and a wee bit of a movement junkie!!!

Movement and exercise have always been a part of my life, whether it be through team sports or more individual pursuits.  However, about eight years ago I began to realise I had a deep passion for fitness and exercise.  It wasn't the movement itself - it was the way I felt during and afterwards.  Like I could take on the world and win.

​

Fast forward a couple of years, and I decided to take the leap into group fitness instructing.  I wanted to share that feeling, that energy, with others.  After training in a range of Les Mills programs (BodyCombat, BodyBalance, GRIT, RPM), I began to search further afield, investigating the direction fitness and wellbeing were heading.  Mat Pilates, Tai Chi, Aqua Aerobics, Meditation, Boxing, HIIT and Bootcamp programs have since joined my repertoire.  Certificate III and IV in Fitness allowed me to expand my knowledge further.

In the last few years, I have come to realise that fitness is a holistic endeavour.  You can be the most active person in the world, but it does not necessarily mean you will achieve your goals.  And everyone's goals are different.  Everyone's needs are different.  And not everyone likes working out in a gym space.

​

And this is where Bat FITness Crazy comes in.  A desire to create a fitness opportunity that is outside of a gym space.  That is not intimidating.  That can come to you if needs be.  That provides a holistic fitness experience, regardless of your ability.   

​

We're all a little bat 'hit' crazy these days, so why not try and change that into a bit of Bat 'FIT'ness Crazy?  Take some time to focus on you, and all of a sudden everything else starts to fall into place.

WHY BAT FITNESS CRAZY?

Every session I run provides an opportunity to challenge yourself; to see what you can achieve.  And we will always finish with stretching, meditation and reflection for a positive mindset.  The mind is just as important as the body.


We all want to set our own goals and see improvement.  To aid in this, every eight weeks a fitness test challenge is offered, gauging change in endurance, strength, flexibility and overall ability.  Fitness is not just how you look - more importantly it is how you feel, and these challenges will allow you to monitor those positive changes you are making.

​

But where do you go to train and find your fitness?  A gym?  Perhaps, but they're not always for everyone.  Maybe you prefer the outdoors.  Maybe you have commitments that keep you closer to home.  Maybe the idea of working out in front of people you don't know just isn't for you.  That's perfectly fine - you need to feel comfortable and secure when training.  So our Bootcamp sessions run in a variety of different outdoor spaces (undercover during winter).  We constantly move around to keep things interesting.  Prefer to train at home?  That's fine - for one-on-one training we come to you!  (Mornington to Sorrento only)

Prices are very affordable, with discounted rates for purchase of multiple sessions.  Why?  Because everyone should be able to access assistance with finding their fitness if they want to.  Keep an eye on the Facebook page and join our free sessions as well!

SMALL GROUP FITNESS

Don't want to exercise on your own, but not keen on big groups either?  Totally understand!  That's why our sessions are capped at a maximum of 12 participants.  This provides an opportunity for you to improve with more individual guidance, while still being part of a team environment!


BOOTCAMP

Everyone loves a bootcamp!  Being outdoors, mixing it all up every session - always a new challenge!  Whether you love traditional bootcamps or not, I guarantee you'll like these ones!  An emphasis on working at your ability and skill level, going at your pace is the focus.  Obtaining lasting improvements, not quick change, is the goal.  And every session finishes with core, stretching and meditation to enable everyone to continue their day in a positive mindset.  Who wouldn't love that?!

BOXING FOR FITNESS

Had a busy day?  Feeling stressed?  Angry?  Maybe you just want to have some fun?  Or how about a big cardio workout?  Then boxing is for you!  It is one of the most holistic, accessible exercises around, building strength, cardiovascular fitness, endurance, and making us all feel gooood!  With a focus on technique and developing fitness, boxing can be beneficial for everyone.  Pair up with a friend, or make a new friend - boxing's worth a try!

CIRCUIT, HIIT AND STRENGTH

Want to work hard?  You'll be able to do that for sure!  Circuit-based sessions will provide an opportunity for you to increase your output as you repeat a series of exercises.  After something more short, sharp and to the point you can get done quickly?  HIIT (high intensity interval training) is more for you, providing 30min of high energy fun!  Or maybe you want to build strength?  Using minimal equipment and focusing on bodyweight movements that you can then utilise at home, you can make this happen!

PILATES AND CORE

So many issues come about these days that can be aided by having a strong core - essentially all those muscles that wrap around your torso/trunk.  But creating a strong core can be tricky.  Using a foundation of mat Pilates work, core-focused sessions will guide you through the process of strengthening these muscles, thereby improving posture and overall strength while reducing back and other muscular pain and weakness.

STRETCH, FLEXIBILITY AND MEDITATION

When you hear the word 'fitness', most people immediately think of exercise -  strength, cardio or endurance-based in nature.  But fitness is more holistic than just the body - what about the mind and the breath?  What about how it makes you feel?  To allow us to continue our day or week with a positive mindset, every session finish with a 10-15 minute focus on stretching, flexibility and meditation.  Stretching and flexibility are both highly beneficial in aiding muscle recovery and reducing the chance of injury (either form overuse  or accident).  A short meditation can be enough to clear and calm the mind while resting and recharging the body.  And let's face it - who wouldn't like to end a big workout with a little nap???

PRIVATE ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING

Not keen on exercising with others?  Have a particular focus on mind?  Can't make it to a session?  Then maybe one-on-one training is for you.  Exercise and fitness should be accessible to everyone, so we will try to work around you.   Personalised programs can be run in a venue of your choice - outside, at home, in your garage even!  Weekly or fortnightly?  That's fine too.  You'll even finish a session with a personalised program to follow on your own until your next appointment.  Regular check ins will help keep you on track to enable you to take control of your own fitness journey!

Please be aware the venue for Bootcamp and HIIT and Core sessions is rotating, meaning there will be a bit of variety in the exercise space as well!!!  Follow the Facebook page to keep up with most recent information so you don't miss a session!!!

BOOTCAMP

A one-hour session involving a variety of different elements (circuit, boxing, Pilates, etc), and always ending with stretch and meditation.

$10 per session

HIIT AND CORE

A combined one-hour session that can be broken down into one 30 minute session if time is an issue (HIIT only OR Core only).

$10 per HIIT and Core session (1 hour)

$5 per HIIT OR Core session (30 min)

ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING

A session for you only in an agreed-upon venue.  Southern Mornington Peninsula only (Mornington-Portsea).
